Netflix successful television show, The Umbrella Academy, is coming to an end and the actors are speaking out about their bittersweet farewells. Stars Elliot Page, Emma Raver-Lampman, David Castañeda and Robert Sheehan are some of the actors who reflect on their time on the show, their heartfelt goodbyes and what we can expect in the upcoming final season.
One of the stars, Elliot Page, who played Victor Hargreeves in all four seasons, told Variety that the breakup was “strange” and that it was only later that he fully understood it. He said he was very grateful to have played Victor and hoped that audiences enjoy the final season.
“To say goodbye to the cast and crew we have worked with for years,
it is definitely hard. You really become very familiar
… I just hope it delivers the emotion, humor and craziness that people expect.”
David Castañeda, who plays Diego Hargreeves, also reacted emotionally, but said he was “bad at saying goodbye.” He said the ending hadn’t become clear to him in the last few weeks of filming, but he’s sure it will become clear to him as filming progresses, and he appreciates that. Castañeda also said: “We want to stay a little longer, you know?”
Emma Raver-Lampman, who plays Alison Hargreeves, also said that she hasn’t really grasped the ending yet. She added that it’s never really goodbye when the people she’s worked with will stay in her life forever. She’s grateful that this show is bringing them together and is excited for fans to see the upcoming season as it continues its unique style and continues the adventures of the Hargreeves family.
“I find
we have so many wonderful fans because our show represents what the world looks like
and the representation in our show is incredible and so special and so unique.”
Robert Sheehan, who plays Victor Hargreeves, said he didn’t feel like he was saying a final goodbye to the series. While everyone else was emotional, for him it felt very procedural and when they were filming they never really trusted them when the producers said, “It’s the last one ever.”
“We then said, ‘No, that’s not it, there will be several more production phases that I will be involved in.’ So
I will hold back on sentimentality for now
.”
