The teaser, which was released on Netflix’s official social media channels, marks the return of Seong Gi-hun, portrayed by Lee Jung-jae, who reprises his role as the sole survivor from the original game. The dramatically lit and tension-filled clip features a new group of faceless players in their iconic green tracksuits.
The sequence culminates in the reveal of Gi-hun, who is recognizable by his signature patch No. 456.

Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk, who made history as the first Asian to win an Emmy for Outstanding Directing in a Drama Series, has revealed, according to Deadline, that Season 2 will explore Gi-hun’s quest for revenge. Dong-hyuk promises a darker, more intense portrayal of Gi-hun that reflects his character’s evolution since Season 1. Lee Jung-jae also reached historic milestones in the previous season: he became the first Asian actor to win Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series and receive such recognition for a non-English language show.
Squid Game has already made its mark in Netflix history as the platform’s most-watched series, recording an incredible 1.65 billion views within the first 28 days of its 2021 debut, according to Deadline.
Netflix has confirmed that season 2 will premiere on December 26, 2024.
