Greece Athena won the Class A Section V title in 2016, but in the following years it has been difficult to repeat these heights.
In the seven years since then, the Trojans have reached the sectional tournament three times but have never advanced past the opening round. Athena has failed to record a win in 2023.
Despite recent difficulties, Athena remains in the Monroe County League and will compete in Class A in the fall, and the schedule should include many tough tests.

Top games for Greece Athena
Not surprisingly, two of the Trojans’ most important games are intra-district matchups. Athena opens the season at home against cross-town rival Arcadia, and the teams meet again on the Titans’ turf in Week 6. Arcadia won the teams’ only meeting in 2023, 13-7. Two defending Section V champions are also on the schedule: East/WOIS (Class A) and Monroe (Class B).
