A BRAVE three-year-old is hoping to become one of the youngest Welsh children to climb Mount Snowdon (over 1km above sea level) to raise vital funds for a local charity and hospice.
Hunter Mark, from Blaenau Gwent, has climbed various Welsh mountains over the past year, even climbing Pen Y Fan, the highest peak in the Brecon Beacons, and now has his sights set on Mount Snowdon, which stands over 1km above sea level.
Hunter’s father Joshua claims he is one of the youngest Welsh children, if not the youngest, to climb the mountain. Father Mark said Hunter will “represent Tŷ Hafan in his ascent of Snowdon.”
When asked why Hunter thought this was an important cause, Mr Mark said the three-year-old was preparing to “help children at Tŷ Hafan who need end-of-life care.”
“Tŷ Hafan only receives two percent of its funding from the government, so they rely on donations to do their work.”
According to the GoFundMe page, the children’s charity Tŷ Hafan has sponsored Hunter by gifting him merchandise and branded items to help him raise funds.
The original target of £100 has already been reached, but Mr Mark believes the hospice and charity (based in South Wales) can use all the help they can get to provide “holistic palliative care for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families”.
“Every contribution you make can make a huge difference for these children and their families.
Hunter’s climb will take place on Friday, August 16th and anyone wishing to donate to the cause can visit Hunter’s funding page via the dedicated GoFundMe page.
Mr Mark added: “Hunter’s tireless and thriving energy is a reminder that not all children are so lucky.”
