The Horizons Celebration: Disney Experiences Showcase at D23: The ultimate Disney fan event took an unexpected turn last night when Deadpool stormed the stage and brought his trademark humor directed at various aspects of the Disney Parks.
What happens:
- Deadpool stormed the stage at last night’s D23 presentation in truly epic fashion, wearing Minnie Mouse ears and singing a song to the tune of “Veggie Veggie Fruit Fruit” by EPCOT‘s kitchen cabaret.
- He then made a series of fourth-wall-breaking Deadpool references that would be immediately noticeable to die-hard Disney fans, such as “Thank the Phoenicians” and “Por favor manténgase alejado de las puertas.”
- Fans erupted in hysterics when he said, “I don’t want to sound like a broken Yeti,” clearly referring to Expedition Everest’s long-broken Yeti.
- He then transforms the action into “Destination Deadpool 75” – and offers numerous possibilities as to how he could become part of the Disney Parks.
- Deadpool has proposed an attraction called the Chimichanga Chaser – a dueling roller coaster attraction where you are the fighter! The logo is a clear reference to the infamous, defunct Superstar Limo attraction.
- Or how about a Halloween overlay for the Haunted House – Deadpool’s tail house!
- runDisney’s next race was originally supposed to be called “Logan’s Run,” a reference to both Wolverine and the 1976 independent science fiction film.
- Deadpool ends his presentation with a short pyrotechnic farewell set to the Fantastic! Final.
- Following the Wonder Following attraction announcements by Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro and Imagineer Scott Trowbridge, Deadpool returned to the stage for an incredible musical finale.
- American Idol Winner Abi Carter joined Deadpool and a number of variants on stage for a rousing performance of Madonna’s “Like a Prayer” – heard in Deadpool and Wolverine.
- During the performance, a series of sketches of Deadpool appeared on the screen, inserted into various situations in the Disney parks, such as:
- Deadpool runs on fire next to the two Disney dragons that infamously caught fire
- The hitchhiking ghosts
- Sieve combination and the Fiesta fruit from Kitchen Kabaret
- The Big Thunder Mountain Goat
- Dr. Seeker from DINOSAUR
- A Jungle Cruise captain
- And more!
