Puri Jagannadh, who is currently gearing up for the release of his next directorial ‘Double iSmart’ starring Ram Pothineni and Sanjay Dutt, recently shared an anecdote after his last film ‘Liger’ flopped at the box office.
He narrated an incident where SS Rajamouli’s father and veteran filmmaker Vijayendra Prasad called him after the release of his film and asked for a favour. Talking about the incident, the filmmaker was visibly emotional.
Speaking at the event, Puri Jagannadh said, “A week after my previous film (Liger) released and flopped, I received a call from Vijayendra Prasad garu. He never calls me otherwise and I was surprised to get a call from him.”
The filmmaker further stated that Vijayendra Prasad had asked him as a favour and asked him to narrate the story before the release of his next film. “I cannot imagine directors like you failing because of small mistakes.” “I was very emotional after his (Vijayendra Prasad’s) call,” Liger’s director added.
Furthermore, Jagannadh said that he will definitely meet the Srivalli director after the release of Double iSmart. He also talked about his biggest commitment to the production of Double iSmart.
For those unaware, Liger, starring Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Pandey, was a pan-Indian film that released in 2022. But despite the huge hype, the action film directed by Puri Jagannadh was not a success at the box office.
On the work front, the renowned filmmaker is gearing up for the release of his next film Double Ismart. The Telugu sci-fi action film stars Ram Pothineni, Sanjay Dutt and Kavya Thapar in the lead roles and Sayaji Shinde, Makarand Deshpande and Getup Srinu in supporting as well as pivotal roles.
The makers recently released the trailer of the film, which was well received by the audience. The action sequences shown in the trailer are well done and promise an eye-catching screenplay and high entertainment value.
Double iSmart is set to hit the big screens on August 15 to great acclaim. The upcoming high-profile film will hit the cinemas across India and will be released in five languages: Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam, ensuring a nationwide distribution.
