MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Don’t forget the umbrella when you step out the door this morning. Many of you won’t need it this morning, but you shouldn’t forget it as showers and storms increase this afternoon.
STORMS TODAY
Expect a mix of sun and clouds today as the heat index approaches 100°.
New data this morning continues to show an increased risk for heavy rain and storms across the Grand Strand and as far northeast as possible. A FLOOD WARNING has been issued for Eastern North Carolina, including Robeson and Scotland counties, due to the risk of heavy rain this afternoon.
Periods of rain and storms are likely to increase throughout the afternoon, especially the further east you are today. After all the rain from Debby, any further rain could cause short-term flooding on roads, with very waterlogged ground across the area.
REST OF THE WEEK
The associated cold front, which has increased the chance of rain for today, will slowly leave the area starting Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. Dryer air will move into the area, but we will still have some showers ahead of us on Tuesday and Wednesday.
A brief drop in humidity is expected towards the middle and end of the week. This should make for a nice forecast for the end of the working week.
Next weekend will be humid, increasing the likelihood of thunderstorms in the afternoon. A very summery weather forecast is expected for Saturday and Sunday.
