Chelsea are considering re-signing Portuguese striker Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid after talks over the La Liga side’s young Spanish striker Samu Omorodion fell through.
Multiple sources have described how talks over personal terms between the Blues and 20-year-old Omorodion broke down last night after a £34.5m transfer fee was agreed last week.
There has always been caution at Stamford Bridge over the Omorodion deal, with the Blues considering a transfer for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, while Romelu Lukaku is moving in the other direction.
But although the deal is not yet 100 percent complete, negotiations have not progressed as far as the various parties had hoped.
Chelsea are now considering a move for Felix, alongside a number of other attacking options, after the club completed a transfer of Wolves winger Pedro Neto in a meeting with his agent Jorge Mendes on Sunday.
Felix, 24, is open to a return to Stamford Bridge, where he spent six months on loan in the 2022-23 season.
According to BBC Sport, Atletico estimate Felix’s value at around £43 million.
Another aspect of the deal is that midfielder Conor Gallagher could complete his transfer to Wanda Metropolitano for £34 million, with Atletico having to make a major player sale for the transfer.
The La Liga club posted a photo of Gallagher on its social media channels on Saturday but did not announce the deal.
Atletico’s £81.5m transfer of Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez is still likely to go ahead, even if a player will have to be sold to sign Gallagher.
