MONDAY: As the new work and school week begins, clouds will begin to form over the region again — some spots could even see a shower or two as the warm front gradually moves across the region. Expect partly cloudy skies with highs in the 30s and, in some cases, above 27 degrees. Most spots look to stay dry — however, north of I-40 could see a shower or two overnight under partly clear skies, with lows dropping to 21 to 25 degrees.
TUESDAY: A warm front is moving north – some clouds and isolated showers will give way to some sunshine and summer heat. The morning 21 degrees will quickly return to normal, with highs of around 35 degrees. The humidity can push the perceived temperatures back to 38-40 degrees by the afternoon. During the night until Wednesday morning there is a risk of some thunderstorms with lows of around 21 to 25 degrees.
EXTENDED TIME: The heat dome will continue to expand and contract over the area for most of the week. Highs will be between 35 and 40 degrees Celsius, with a mix of clouds and sun. Sometimes, if the ridge is strong enough, heat stress will be more pronounced and rain chances will remain low – as was the case on Thursday. If the ridge is weaker, we could see some rain accumulations and storms creeping in from the northwest – as was the case on Wednesday and Friday. Next week, the pattern will change – we will get drier and warmer again across the board.
