Short videos have taken over the internet and to some extent changed the way we consume content. Platforms like YouTube Shorts provide short bursts of information or entertainment that we often easily forget due to the immense amount of short videos we watch. Many people save these shorts to watch later and this definitely helps you find the video when you need it. If you are wondering how to do this, here is a guide that can help you download YouTube Shorts on your phone and PC.
Download Shorts with YouTube Premium
If you are subscribed to YouTube Premium, you can download a YouTube short film to save it or watch it later. The download option does not appear when watching a short film, so you have to go to your history to download it, which is weird. Here’s how to download short films:
On the phone
- If you have already watched the Shorts video you want to download, go to You tab > Story to find the shorts you want to download.
- Tap the 3-dot symbol to see more options.
- Knock Download video to save the video to your YouTube downloads.
- Select a video quality and tap Download bottom right.
- On the You screen, scroll down and select Downloads.
- Here you should find the YouTube Shorts you just downloaded.
On the PC
- Go to YouTube.com and click on the Hamburger symbol.
- If you have already watched the YouTube Shorts video you want to download, click Story from the left sidebar.
- Click on the 3-dot symbol next to the short and select Download.
- After downloading, a toast with a View The option should appear, click on this option to check the downloaded shorts.
- Alternatively, you can also click on the Downloads in the left sidebar and watch the video you just downloaded.
Downloaded shorts will stay forever if your device connects to the internet at least once every 30 days. Unfortunately, there is no way to download shorts while you’re watching them. You’ll have to go to the History section every time you want to download them.
