Today is Missouri Farm Bureau/Farm Family Day at the State Fair in Sedalia.
You can get a $1 discount on admission at your county Farm Bureau offices. Chris Chinn, Director of the Missouri Department of Agriculture (MDA), also invites you to the groundbreaking ceremony for the State Fair’s new indoor arena on Thursday morning. Director Chinn joined us live on “Wake Up Mid-Missouri” on 939 the Eagle:
“It will be a closed facility with a controlled climate. We can hold events there all year round. We are very excited about that,” Chinn tells the audience.
The groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday morning will be held at 10 a.m., following the Governor’s ham breakfast. State Fair Director Jason Moore and Office of Administration (OA) Commissioner Ken Zellers will join Governor Parson and Director Chinn in the groundbreaking. Members of Missouri’s congressional delegation and state legislators from both parties are expected to attend Thursday’s ceremony:
“We’re also inviting our entire federal delegation to attend. It’s a great time. It’s been decades since we built a new arena at the state fairgrounds, so we couldn’t be more excited,” Chinn says.
Today there will be free trolley rides for all ages, sponsored by the Jefferson City-based Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council and the Soy Checkoff. There will also be blacksmithing demonstrations today from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
