After getting used to Julia Fox stepping out on a near-daily basis in outfits that can best be described as weird and wonderful—seriously, we’re talking a full goth outfit contrasted with an uber-feminine pink puffball dress, shoes made out of hair extensions, and a silver sci-fi chic ensemble—her absence over the past few weeks had definitely been noticeable (both in our Instagram feeds and in media headlines). In fact, we’d even started to miss her daily fashion shows. Especially since her most recent appearance last month saw her debut with normcore brunette hair. Hardly the Julia we know and love.
Well, we’re happy to report that the former Cosmo UK cover star is back! Julia’s latest look, worn over the weekend (Saturday 10 August), was certainly more wearable than some of her previous outfits – anyone remember her birdcage corset dress? Upon closer inspection, however, her crop top and maxi skirt outfit featured her signature quirky twist.
Namely, the fact that her high-necked, long-sleeved yellow crop top had a micro-hem that ended just below her chest, and was paired with a low-slung maxi skirt that looked like it was made entirely out of men’s boxer shorts. The form-fitting design consisted of the elastic waistband and the top few inches of various plaid fabrics most commonly used for men’s underwear, layered on top of each other, stretching from Julia’s hips to the floor.
Boxer shorts are a huge fashion trend for spring and summer this season. Fashion mavens wear them as a basic beachwear piece. However, Julia gave the look a whole new, autumnal twist. She layered a sporty grey jacket over it and carried a black handbag over her arm. Her ensemble was completed with a striking beauty look that consisted of bleached blonde hair, dark eyebrows painted at an extreme angle and neon yellow eyeshadow.
