The 2024 Mississippi high school volleyball season has begun, with games beginning the first week of August. Here’s a look at the top MHSAA and MAIS players for the fall.
The players are listed in alphabetical order.
Lynde Barnes, Gulfport, Sr.: Barnes had 288 kills with a .411 hit percentage last season.
Adalyn Callahan, Hernando, Sr.: Callahan, who transferred to Northwest Mississippi Community College, recorded 116 kills and 146 digs.
Carson Caraway, Jackson Academy, Sun.: The freshman had 481 kills with 35 blocks and 291 digs in the Raiders’ MAIS Class 6A title year last season.
Caroline Crockett, Lafayette, Sr.: Crockett helped Lafayette to its first MHSAA Class 5A state title last season.
Mylee Davis, Alcorn Central, Jr.: Last season, Davis had 273 kills with 380 digs and 51 aces.
Riley Edwards, Oak Grove, Sr.: Edwards, who transferred to Jones College, had 171 kills with 116 digs and 17 aces last season.
Myah Favre, Our Lady Academy, Jr.: Favre recorded 474 kills with 120 digs and 54 aces to help OLA to a MHSAA Class 3A state title.
Sofia Gonzalez, Lake Cormorant, Jr.: Gonzalez, the 2023 MHSAA Class 6A Miss Volleyball award winner, posted 507 kills, 410 digs, 26 blocks and 78 aces to help the Gators win the 6A title.
Melissa Herrle, Warren Central, Sr.: Herrle recorded 381 digs, 170 kills and 95 aces last season.
Fallon Humphries, Madison-Ridgeland Academy, Sr.: Humphries had a hit percentage of .354 with 321 kills.
Anna Hoffmayer, Ocean Springs, Jr.: Hoffmayer had 257 kills with 12 aces, 43 digs and 41 blocks.
Reese McIntosh, DeSoto Central, Sr.: McIntosh, who is transferring to Northwest Mississippi Community College, had 331 kills, 297 digs and 61 aces.
Lauren Niemeyer, Regents, Sr.: Last season, Niemeyer had 355 kills, 383 digs and 28 aces.
Macie Phifer, Ingomar, Sr.: Phifer was named MHSAA Miss Volleyball for Class 2A and had 382 kills for a 45.3% kill rate.
Ella Grace Phillips, Amory, Sr.: Phillips had 500 kills with a kill rate of 31.9% and 408 digs.
Avery Power, Brandon, Sr.: Power recorded 753 digs with 56 aces and 97 assists in 2023.
Jania Rose, Lake Cormorant, Sr.: Rose, who has committed to Northwest Mississippi Community College, had 511 digs and 100 aces in her 6A title season.
Nala Salter, Northwest Rankin, Sr.: Salter, who transferred to Itawamba Community College, had 213 digs with 280 kills and 33 aces.
Kennedi Simmons, Tupelo, Jr.: The junior recorded 191 kills for the Golden Wave last season.
Claire Smith, Lewisburg, Sr.: Smith, who has committed to Pearl River Community College, had 1,094 assists, 276 digs and 59 aces in Lewisburg’s Class 7A MHSAA title.

Sophie Sosa, Jackson Academy, Sr.: Sosa, a Southern Miss player, had 244 kills with 96 blocks and 27 digs.
Mylee Switcher, Pine Grove, Sun.: Switcher had 609 assists with 49 kills and 54 digs.
Sydney Tague, DeSoto Central, Sr.: Tague had 1,103 assists, 234 digs and 95 aces last season.
Quinn Thurman, Northpoint, Sr.: Last season, Thurman had 382 kills, 382 digs and 71 aces.
Teelie Tyer, New Albany, Jr.: Tyer had 227 kills with 278 digs and 61 aces.
Adilyn Vaughn, Newton County, Jr.: Vaughn had the most hits on the team with 323 kills, as well as 197 digs, 69 blocks and 29 aces.
Mckenzie Whitfield, East Central, Sr.: Last season, Whitfield recorded 511 digs and had 30 aces.
Claire Wicker, Oxford, Sr.: Wicker had 932 assists and 374 digs last season.
Zoe Wilder, Germantown, Sr.: Wilder has chosen to attend Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and is expecting a great season this fall.
Hallie Wright, Lewisburg, Sr.: Wright had 182 kills and 74 blocks in her 7A title year last season.
