MARIETTA, BELPRE, Ohio (WTAP) – Akron Children’s Hospital is expanding its presence to the Marietta and Belpre locations of Marietta Memorial Hospital.
According to Ben Teske, chief of primary care at Akron Children’s Hospital, the hospital has expanded its primary care practices on the Marietta and Belpre campuses to provide better access for patients.
This was achieved by hiring additional providers in the region while also enabling outpatient care.
Teske explains: “…we plan to offer walk-in care in both Marietta and Belpre. That means you can make an appointment just by walking in. Of course, you can use the traditional methods and make an appointment by phone or online on our website. But you can also come into the office and get examined. That’s our walk-in program, which is primarily aimed at our current patients.”
Teske also says they will be launching a rapid care program in the fall that will be open to anyone in the community.
“Our goal would be improved access for the community. Easy appointment scheduling, easy appointment scheduling, and just overall better access for patients throughout the Marietta, Belpre and Parkersburg area.”
Teske says in addition to their new programs, they will also have virtual appointment scheduling options for those who wish to take advantage of them.
“In addition to our walk-in and quick care programs, where you can be treated without an appointment, we also have e-visit programs available… Patients can receive treatment via email in a different format. One way to receive treatment is to communicate back and forth with your doctor via email or by communicating back and forth with your doctor.”
Teske says Akron Children’s also offers online appointments for its rapid care program.
“…so, in addition to being examined in person at a practice, we also offer you opportunities to be examined or receive medical care without being in the practice.”
