Taapsee Pannu, who is always in good spirits in her marriage to her long-term partner Mathias Boe, faced concerns from friends when they first met. Taapsee in India and Mathias in Denmark, her first date in Dubai sparked concern among her friends, who warned her of possible risks and advised her to be cautious and not let Mathias ‘sell’ her to a sheikh.
Taapsee Pannu told Raunaq Rajani on his show Relationship Advice, “We met about 10 or 11 years ago and a year later he proposed to me. It happened very quickly. Yes, nine years of engagement, neither of us has changed our minds and we still believe that we can stay together for most of our lives, yes.”
When asked about the craziest thing she has done for love, Taapsee said, “That was… the first date, across a continent or rather a country, the first date where you don’t know the other person at all, that was the craziest thing I have ever done for someone. He proposed to me and said I want to go with you to either Denmark or Dubai. Because those are the two places I know very well. So I said who’s going to Denmark? Schengen visa, oh my God.”
She added: “I thought to myself: why is this guy interested in me? First of all, there is our confidence, coming from this part of the world. We always think: you are a white person, why would he be interested in us? That little inferiority complex is always there anyway.”
“So I went there and my friends said, ‘Be careful.’ Don’t let him sell you out. I’m not kidding. My friends actually gave me… My best friend’s sister lives in Dubai. So she gave me her number and I don’t know if he sells me out to a sheikh, she won’t be able to stop the deal, right? He turned out to be a good guy. That’s why 10-11 years passed. I’m sure I still want to stay with him,” Taapsee said.
Taapsee will be seen on screen again in the upcoming film ‘Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba’. The story continues from the first film Haseen Dillruba and begins with Rani Kashyap and Rishabh Saxena starting a new chapter in the bustling city of Agra. Pursued by the authorities and marked by a trail of blood, their journey takes a dramatic turn when Sunny Kaushal’s character Abhimanyu arrives, adding a new level of suspense to the narrative. Amidst new enemies like Jimmy Shergill, the couple faces challenges in their quest for a ‘happily ever after’.
