Unveiled at the Hong Kong AV Show, the Cambridge Audio Evo One features 14 tuned drivers and 700W of amplification.
Cambridge Audio’s Evo One wireless one-box speaker system promises unrivalled performance, connectivity and versatility, building on the hi-res streaming intelligence and musicality of the Evo 75 and Evo 150 streaming amplifiers.
The Evo One features an array of 14 drivers, including 4 x 1-inch silk dome tweeters, 4 x 2.25-inch aluminum cone midrange drivers and 6 x 2.75-inch long-throw woofers. These surround the Evo One in front, side and rear-firing configurations, which Cambridge Audio says “deliver a phenomenally wide sound dispersion and a truly expansive soundstage.”
Power is delivered by a 700W Class D amplifier – 50W (RMS) per driver for fine control – while advanced digital signal processing (DSP) enables perfect tuning of the Cambridge Signature Sound.
All of this Cambridge Audio goodness is wrapped in a minimalist, retro-modern aesthetic, designed in London by Red Dot Award-winning designer Ged Martin. Here you have beautifully patterned real walnut veneer, paired with a grille that appears to be inspired by natural honeycomb shapes. We’re told this design is also good at not obstructing sound. This structure is then covered in acoustically transparent fabric.
On the front, a 6.8-inch color screen offers a clock display, album art and track information or virtual VU meters.
Evo One is based on the fourth generation of StreamMagic and enables direct streaming of Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Deezer, Qobuz, Roon Ready, UPnP and Internet radio with support for high-resolution audio up to 32 bit/192 kHz over Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
Additionally, Evo One offers Bluetooth, AirPlay 2 and Google Cast options. It is fully compatible with Google Home, Apple AirPlay and Roon multi-room systems, allowing users to share music across devices throughout the home.
Wired connections are also possible. Thanks to HDMI eARC, the Evo One can be connected to a TV, forming the sound foundation of your home entertainment system. A moving magnet (MM) phono preamplifier enables direct connection of a hi-fi turntable, while a line input supplies other analog sources. An optical digital input and a USB-A media jack offer further digital options.
Finally, you can manually adjust the sound with a seven-band EQ and numerous presets. The app’s room optimization features allow you to manually adjust the sound to suit your individual living space.
Cambridge Audio Evo One is available from cambridgeaudio.com and approved retailers, priced at £1,299/€1,499.
