The KWPN breeding stallion and small tour level trained King Karim was sold to a Dutch syndicate between the stallion owners Joop van Uytert and Leo and Marthijs Brouwer.
King Karim is a 9-year-old KWPN stallion by Toto Jr. out of Blexta (by Painted Black x Flemmingh). He was bred by K. Kiestra in Blokzijl, the Netherlands.
Licensed
The chestnut stallion was owned by “Ednihap BV”, a company behind Edward Gal, Nicole Werner and Hans Peter Minderhoud.
He was licensed at the KWPN stallion licensing in 2018 and completed the spring performance test in the same year, where he scored 83 points.
He was initially used for breeding by the Nijhof and Glock teams.
Sports career
King Karim was only briefly shown as a youth.
In 2019, Italian Riccardo Sanavio, who worked as an assistant rider for Gal/Minderhoud, finished 11th in the Pavo Cup final with 83.6 and 80.4 points.
In the winter of 2019/20 he won the KWPN final of the stallion competition under Hans Peter Minderhoud. In 2021 the pair was registered but did not appear at the KWPN aptitude test 2021 as a replacement for the final of the stallion competition.
Since then, the horse has not participated in any (major) shows.
Team USB
Brouwer and Van Uytert have bought the stallion. It is unclear whether he will be used in sport.
“Our decision to invest in this stallion is based on the excellent quality of his offspring,” explained Brouwer.
Marthijs told Eurodressage: “We haven’t thought about future plans in detail yet, but we definitely plan to focus on both sport and breeding.” Brouwer hinted that they consider King Karim to be an Olympic contender in LA.
