A lucky man from North Carolina has fulfilled two dreams with his $1.1 million lottery win.
Moore County resident Terrell Bethea promised his wife that one day she would have her dream home. On Monday, that dream became a reality when he purchased a $1 Cash 5 lottery ticket, the North Carolina Education Lottery news release said.
“Now I can buy my family the home they deserve,” Bethea told lottery officials as he collected his prize.
The winning numbers for the draw on Monday, August 5 were 5–6–7–9–23the lottery announced.
When Bethea told his wife the news, she became emotional, the lottery said.
“She fell to her knees and burst into tears,” Bethea told the lottery.
According to the lottery, Bethea purchased the winning ticket at the Robbins Friendly Mart in Robbins, North Carolina.
Bethea picked up his winnings at lottery headquarters on Tuesday. After federal and state taxes, he received $811,106, the lottery said.

For Bethea, winning the lottery was very special because his birthday was just around the corner.
“This happened two days before my birthday,” he told lottery officials. “Isn’t that crazy?”
Bethea will be 36 years old, the lottery said.
“This means more to me than you can imagine,” he said.
