LAKE GENEVA – Let’s take a look at an $8.99 million home on Lake Geneva that is currently the second most expensive listing in the state.
For a home valued at nearly $9 million, this Lake Geneva estate is neither overly opulent nor daring. It’s a modern home with understated luxury.
The home at N2301 Knollwood Dr. is 5,300 square feet. It features 5 bedrooms, 4 full bathrooms, 2 half bathrooms, an attached two-car garage and a detached garage with a lift that can fit two smaller or sleek sports car style vehicles. There is also a pier with space for 2 boats.
Arguably the most impressive part of the home is its lake view and frontage. The home has 190 feet of flat frontage on Lake Geneva. Between the home and the lake, there is plenty of space for families to get together, grill, host parties, or host other events.
“So the price depends on the location, the frontage and the 58 metres of flat frontage. That’s your guideline. So if you want frontage, if you want it flat and if you want it on the north coast with views and morning and night light, that’s the price,” said Janis Hartley, the agent marketing the property.
It is not common to have such a large, flat and accessible frontage on Lake Geneva. That is what makes this home so valuable.
To make the most of the view, the house has tons of windows facing the lake. And to really experience it, you can sit outside on the large wraparound porch. It’s screened, heated, has fans, and is lit throughout. Unlike other lake homes I’ve described, many of the rooms connect to a deck so people can go outside and enjoy the view.
The house is in classic Nantucket style and is neither too big nor too small, allowing you to welcome guests and comfortably accommodate a family.
“So it’s a home for people who want to relax, live on the lake and entertain guests,” Hartley said.
The current owners renovated and expanded the home in 2018 and 2019. The master bedroom has beautiful lake views, a large bathroom and a walk-in closet that was added during the expansion.
Most of the bedrooms are upstairs. The dining area, kitchen and living room are on the ground floor. In the basement, next to the family room, there is a gym.
“(This house is not) high-end. It’s actually mid- to high-end on Geneva Lake. For example, about two weeks ago a property came on the market for 7.25 million on the south shore. It needed a complete renovation. I don’t know if the buyer is going to tear it down or not. This house is move-in ready,” Hartley said.
Some regions of Wisconsin are home to the state’s most expensive homes: Lake Geneva, Lake Country, Lake Drive near Milwaukee, and Door County. You can read stories about these homes by clicking on these links – a $30 million mansion in Lake Geneva, a $5.5 million vintage-style home in Lake Country, and a medieval-inspired home in Lake Drive.
According to Zillow, as of this article’s publication, there are only two homes listed in Wisconsin for $7 million or more. A home in Door County is listed for $10 million and one in Lake Geneva is listed for $8.99 million.
