Former President Donald Trump made a bold comparison, claiming that the crowd at his rally could rival or even surpass Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legendary historic speech at the March on Washington in 1963.
Addressing his supporters, Trump said: “You never see the picture of the crowd. The biggest crowd I’ve ever spoken to, I’ve spoken to the biggest crowds, nobody has spoken to bigger crowds than I have. If you look at Martin Luther King when he gave his speech, his great speech, and if you look at ours, same lot, same everything, same number of people. If not, we had more. And they said he had a million people, but I had 25,000 people.”

He continued, emphasizing the visual comparison between the two events: “When you look at the exact same picture and everything is the same because it was the fountains, the whole thing, all the way from Lincoln to Washington, and you look at it and you see the picture of his crowd, my crowd, we were actually more people. They said I had 25,000 and he had a million people. And I’m OK with that because I liked Dr. Martin Luther King. Yes, please.”
Trump’s comments quickly sparked a wave of reactions, but one response in particular stood out: Bernice King, the daughter of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., took to social media to set the record straight. In response to Trump’s claims, she tweeted, “Absolutely not true. I really wish people would stop using my father as evidence of their errors.” Along with her statement, Bernice King posted a striking photo of her father and the huge crowd at the “I Have a Dream” speech, leaving no doubt about the significance of this historic moment.
