This 28-year-old woman is celebrating almost 9 years of marriage with her 30-year-old fiancé. They got engaged 8 months ago and their wedding is next year.
She admits that she and her fiancé have been together for so long and have become completely different people than when they first met.
They have talked extensively about marriage over the years and have even gone ring shopping several times in the past.
They agreed to wait until they graduated from college to get engaged so they could settle into adult life a little more.
“After we got the ring, my partner said he had concerns about getting married,” she explained.
“That really upset me because in the nine years we were together he never hinted that he didn’t want to get married at some point – and we’ve talked about it a lot over the years.”
“After that, we went to therapy a few times and thought we had worked it out and he was OK with the marriage aspect, but he didn’t really care about all the stress of the wedding.”
Her fiancé didn’t understand why they had to spend a lot of money on luxurious things for one day of their lives.
She understood her fiancé’s views, but had dreamed of getting married since she was a child.
