Thanks to a massive new intel drop, we now know a lot more about Black Ops 6 Zombies than we would have expected at this point in the year. The co-op mode looks to be a revamp of many of the underlying systems, but it also retains some classic features.
Easter egg hunts, essentially hidden quests that require players to figure out how to complete them on their own, have been a staple of Zombies for years, but their obtuse nature has made them off-limits to most casual players.
While previous Zombies versions have played around with different ideas to attract new players to this part of the game with varying degrees of success, Black Ops 6 may offer a solution that combines the best of both worlds.

Black Ops 6’s Zombies mode will of course also feature a return of Easter eggs. There will also be a guided mode for new players, but the big change is that each map’s guided mode will not be available at launch, but rather later in the season.
This means that everyone is in the dark when it comes to figuring out the solution to these quests, allowing the community to work together to make discoveries for the main and side quests.
Guided Mode itself is quite interesting, offering “focused guidance” through the main quests. Rounds are limited to certain levels to make progress easier. However, side quests and Easter eggs are disabled in Guided Mode, making it essentially the best way to experience the story.
As always, you’ll receive themed rewards for completing a map’s main quest, and an additional reward if you do so outside of Guided Mode. This also includes limited-time calling cards if you do the same before starting Guided Mode.
Aside from these additions and all the new quality of life features we’ve covered before, Black Ops 6 Zombies brings back many familiar mechanics and turn systems. Pack-a-Punch, Mystery Boxes, and the various Coke Perk machines are back – as are the GobbleGums.
It also retains several mechanics introduced in Black Ops Cold War’s Zombies mode, such as Essence and Salvage as the two main currencies, the ability to exfiltrate and receive rewards when the situation becomes too overwhelming, the Workbench, and more.
At launch, Zombies will feature two turn-based maps. As revealed in the story trailer, the first is set on Terminus Island, while the other is based in a West Virginia town called Liberty Falls. While this week’s blog post focuses exclusively on Terminus, we’ll have to wait until Call of Duty: Next later this month to learn more about Liberty Falls.
Unfortunately, there won’t be any zombie content in the upcoming Black Ops 6 beta, but launch isn’t too far away. The full game will be released on October 25 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
