The packed event will take place from August 27th to September 2nd.
Atlanta is preparing for an epic celebration.
The first Global Black Pride in the United States, sponsored by Atlanta Black Pride Weekend, kicks off in the southern city on August 27 and lasts nearly a week. The city’s vibrant LGBTQIA+ community will enjoy a music festival, a gala and influencer dinner, and a conference on human rights and health. Celebrities such as Keke Palmer, Billy Porter, and Jessica and Niecy Nash-Betts are expected to attend.
Following tradition, Mayor Andrew Dickens will also host his fifth annual Global Black Pride Reception at Atlanta City Hall.
The Vision Community Foundation, Traxx Girls Inc. and Rockstars Production will continue to produce the expanding company, with the latter two hosting the Black Excellence Influencer’s Dinner. On August 30, the Global Black Pride Weekend fundraiser will honor public figures who continue to break barriers for LGBTQIA+ people. Honorees at the 2024 ceremony include Rashad Burgess, Lisa Cunningham and Funky Dineva.
To culminate this groundbreaking week, a Pure Heat Community Festival will take place on September 1 at Piedmont Par, featuring food and market stalls, local performances and educational forums.
Additionally, the festival, now in its 12th year, aims to bring knowledge and fun to the community. Palmer will take home the Humanitarian Award at the event, while Nash-Betts will present her wife Jessica with the Trailblazer Award.
With a packed program and diverse activities, Global Black Pride hopes to empower the LGBTQIA+ community and its allies at its first celebration in the U.S. In keeping with its mission, a portion of the event’s proceeds will benefit homeless LGBTQIA+ youth and those affected by HIV/AIDS through the Vision Foundation.
