MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – The heat will return for the rest of the work week while a warm front moves north and a ridge extends eastward. This pattern will bring increased humidity and rising temperatures in the coming days. Excessive heat is expected to return as early as tomorrow.
THURSDAY IS A FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY due to the expected hot conditions. Heat index values, or perceived temperatures, of nearly 110°C are expected across much of the region.
This should impact your outdoor plans, whether you are at TPC Southwind or in your own backyard.
If you spend long periods of time outdoors, especially in the afternoon, make sure you drink plenty of fluids and take breaks.
After Thursday, extreme heat will continue for the rest of the work week. Next weekend, the heat will ease somewhat, accompanied by the possibility of a passing shower or two.
The message remains the same: Be aware of the effects of outdoor heat.
