One of Newport’s best kept music secrets for the past two years has been the NEE Jam at the Firehouse Theater, held every 1st and 3rd Monday of the month. Presented by North End Entertainment and the New England Music Organization, the NEE Jam is a celebration of live music featuring an incredibly talented house band that brings the audience on stage for incredible improvisational performances. The event has become a huge success, often filling the theater and spilling over to Equality Park and Broadway twice a month.
If you haven’t had the chance to experience NEE Jam for yourself, NIMFest this Sunday at the King Park Gazebo might be the perfect opportunity. The Firehouse Band (Chase Ceglie, Chris Vaillancourt, Brendan Keogh, Tim Lee and John Gillese) will showcase their impressive talents alongside a select group of incredible local guest musicians who are regulars at NEE Jam. Get ready to laugh, cheer and dance – NEE Jam welcomes the public to join in!
Created as a way for North End Entertainment to showcase its talented lineup of musicians to the community, NEE Jam quickly became a popular gathering place for Newport’s amateur and professional musicians to meet twice a month, share the stage, and put on a lively show for the community.
Rather than an open mic, NEE Jam is a fast-paced and incredibly entertaining concert featuring professional sound and lighting equipment, as well as video recording capabilities to preserve Newport’s music for posterity on North End Entertainment’s popular YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/@northendentertainment).
NIMFest, short for Newport Independent Music Festival, has become a popular summer concert series in Newport, celebrating local and regional artists in a family-friendly atmosphere. The event is free and open to the public and invites music lovers from across Rhode Island to enjoy an afternoon of live music in one of Newport’s most picturesque parks.
Visitors are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs to fully enjoy the open-air concert experience. As parking is limited, the public is asked to carpool. Alcohol is not permitted in the park. All concerts will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Rainy day events may be held in September if needed.

The free outdoor concert series is made possible by the City of Newport, the New England Music Organization and North End Entertainment thanks to a generous donation from the Hamilton Family Foundation.
