Even though country star Garth Brooks is a multimillionaire, he has decided to live as if he has no money.
Thanks to his impressive music career, lucrative performances in Las Vegas and his successful record label, the 62-year-old musician is said to be worth around $430 million.
But a source recently told Radar Online that despite all his success over his decades in the industry, he still enjoys a “simple life” without luxury vacations, expensive restaurants or material goods.
“Garth is borderline obsessive when it comes to living a simple life, which stems from his humble upbringing in Oklahoma,” they explained.
“He has been taught that no one is better than anyone else, and he is almost embarrassed by all the attention and admiration he receives.”

Garth grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma and spoke openly about how much his quiet childhood influenced him.
“Anyone who grew up in Oklahoma has everything they need. There is a righteousness and goodness there that you can’t find anywhere else,” he said earlier.
Garth is the youngest of six children. His father worked for an oil company, while his mother was an aspiring singer. His sister Betsy revealed in the past that they all grew up “in absolute poverty.”
The insider added that while performing in front of thousands of fans on tour can go to some people’s heads, Garth never developed a “big ego.”
“It takes a big ego to get on stage and entertain 75,000 fans at a show, but when he’s not performing, he just takes a needle and bursts his ego balloon,” they said.
Another source told the publication that Garth – who has daughters Taylor (32), August (30) and Allie (28) with his ex-wife Sandy Mahl – is doing everything he can to ensure that his children do not grow up in luxury.
They said he actually didn’t give them much of his vast fortune – and even forced them to find their own jobs as teenagers.
“Garth believes the best way to show his love for his daughters is not to coddle them or cater to their every whim,” the source explained.

Another source said Garth – who has three daughters with ex-wife Sandy Mahl – is committed to ensuring his children do not grow up in luxury. He was seen with Trisha and Allie in 2017.
“When they were in high school, he even insisted that they take humble jobs to spend money.”
After separating from Sandy in 1999, Garth married country singer Trisha Yearwood in 2005.
“Garth is borderline obsessive when it comes to living a simple life. This stems from his humble upbringing in Oklahoma,” the first source explained. “He was taught that no one is better than anyone else.”
And the insider said Garth and his wife agree on their stance on money.
“Trisha doesn’t complain at all about Garth’s frugality. They really agree when it comes to not flaunting their wealth,” they added.
Garth spent years trying to break into the industry and was rejected by numerous labels before a stroke of luck helped him catch the attention of Lynn Shults, CEO of Capitol Records.
He had previously told Billboard that Lynn had come to a Nashville cafe to meet someone who “never showed up” when he saw Garth perform on stage.
“When my performance was over, Lynn was waiting backstage. What he said … would change my life forever,” the singer recalled.
“He said, ‘Maybe we missed something here. Come to the label tomorrow. Let’s talk.'”
His debut album was released in 1989 and immediately made him a big star.
Since then, he has released an incredible 16 more albums – nine of which have been certified diamond.
