Virginia Tech has already been quite active with the class of 2027, making 27 offers and having numerous targets.
On Wednesday morning, 247Sports released the first edition of its Top 100 rankings for 2027, and six players with an offer from Virginia Tech found themselves on the list. Here are all of the Hokies’ top talents in the Top 100.
Brady Edmunds, quarterback, California
Edmunds would be a huge asset for the Hokies. Brady is one of the highest-rated quarterbacks in his class, with only Elijah Haven, who is ranked No. 1 among all players in the class of 2027 as a generational prospect, better than him. Edmunds is No. 14 and No. 3 in California. He was 6’5″ and 200 pounds as a freshman, and his performance is already at NFL level.
Here’s a scouting report on Edmunds, courtesy of Greg Biggins of 247Sports:
“Edmunds is on the short list when it comes to the best quarterback in the national class of ’27. He is a big, strong pocket passer who impressed in several training camps this spring. Nearly every school he worked out with, including heavyweight programs like Texas, Ohio St, Michigan and Penn State, offered him an offer after seeing him practice. He threw for 2,691 yards and 24 touchdowns as a freshman and can move the ball down the field with feel and accuracy. He was also a starter on the school’s basketball team and shows underrated athleticism on the floor.”
Myles McAfee, wide receiver, Maryland
McAfee has already received eight offers before his sophomore season. In addition to Virginia Tech, Penn State, Boston College, Charlotte, East Carolina, Indiana, Maryland and West Virginia have all offered the receiver. McAfee has game-changing speed and is fighting for time on one of the best high school wide receiver teams in the country. His sophomore season should be really exciting and don’t be surprised if he receives offers from top programs. McAfee was ranked 91st nationally in his class, 3rd in the DC region and 13th among wide receivers in his class.
Griff Galloway, defensive lineman, North Carolinan/a
Galloway is one of the most impressive defensive line prospects in the class of 2027. 247Sports has Griff ranked as the best player in North Carolina and the second-best defensive lineman in the country. Galloway has 10 offers overall, but he received five of them in August. Virginia Tech, Texas A&M, Tennessee, South Carolina and Penn State all offered him in August. He also has offers from Georgia, West Virginia, North Carolina, Duke and Florida. He landed in the top 100 as the 46th best player in the country.
Ezekiel Ayangbile, defensive line, Texas
According to 247Sports, Virginia Tech is the only school to offer Ayangbile. Ezekiel is 6’2″ and 220 lbs, and he is ranked 79th nationally. Ayangbile’s father is Duane Brown, NFL legend, and Ayangbile’s mother is Ciera Osagbami, a former Virginia Tech track and field athlete. He is a promising prospect who could be involved later in the recruiting process for the Class of 2027.
Continued Patterson, Athlete, South Carolina
Sequel is a two-sport athlete who plays quarterback and free safety. He has received Division 1 offers for basketball but has 15 offers for football, according to 247Sports. Appalachian State, Boston College, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, Eastern Kentucky, Georgia Tech, James Madison, Johnson C. Smith, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, Pitt, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia Tech have all submitted offers. Patterson is considered the 13th best player in the country, the 3rd best athlete in the country and the best player from South Carolina.
Marquis Bryant, safety, North Carolina
Bryant is another dual-sport athlete who had some major accomplishments in his freshman season. He recorded 53 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, three interceptions, and allowed just two catches for 25 yards all season. He finished the 2027 season as the 81st ranked player, the 7th safety, and the 2nd best player in North Carolina. He has offers from Penn State, Tennessee, Miami, North Carolina, and many others. I can definitely see this player moving up the rankings, and he already has plenty of offers before his sophomore season.
