Dale Crover gives a final preview of his upcoming album Glossolalia (September 13, Joyful Noise Recordings) with today’s release of “Spoiled Daisies” featuring a guest appearance from Ty Segall.
“This is about a psychedelic mushroom trip gone wrong. You seek spirituality through psychedelics, but you have a bad trip and get banished from the Garden of Eden,” says Crover of “Spoiled Daisies,” a hard-grooving riff workout that would fit just as well in the Melvins’ setlist as it would on Glossolalia. “Plus,” adds Crover, “Ty Segall plays a furious, psychedelic guitar solo!”
Glossolalia is arguably his most focused statement as a solo artist yet. Overall, the new album shows that, just as the Melvins continue to grow and evolve in their fourth decade, Crover is also actively taking new steps as a solo artist. Amid the inspired patter of Waits, the glorious shredding of Segall and Thayil, and more, the robustness of Crover’s vision stands out throughout the record. “It’s just kind of an extra point,” he says of a solo outlet away from his main band—but as this record shows, his overall aesthetic is just as strong as his legendary drum thunder.
“Glossolalia” can now be pre-ordered here on Hot Pink vinyl, CD and VIP vinyl “Lickety Split Pink”, limited to 400 hand-numbered copies with a bonus flexi-disc.

Considered one of the most influential drummers of our time, Dale Crover is a versatile musician whose influence extends far beyond his chosen instrument. A founding member of the Melvins, Crover’s thunderous yet precise drumming style has been a cornerstone of the band’s groundbreaking sound for decades. His musical contributions are not limited to drumming, however; Crover is also an accomplished guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter. In addition to his work with the Melvins and Nirvana, he co-founded Bay Area band Altamont (where he filled the role of guitarist and vocalist) and has been a member of Redd Kross for several years. Crover has released two solo albums: The Fickle Finger of Fate (2017) and Rat-A-Tat-Tat! (2021), which showcase his skills as a frontman and songwriter.
