The new film Strange darling impresses critics with its first reviews before its release. The film is scheduled to be released on August 23rd and has a Maximum score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Screenplay and direction: JT Mollner, Strange darling is a cat-and-mouse thriller about a one-night stand that goes horribly wrong. After a woman (Willa Fitzgerald) gets together with a man who is secretly a serial killer (Kyle Gallner), she ends up becoming his prey and runs (and hides) for her life as the killer pursues her. The film impressed horror mastermind Stephen King, who raved about the film on X (formerly known as Twitter) after previewing it.

Rotten Tomatoes critics agree with Stephen King
The film’s twists are also praised by critics on Rotten Tomatoes with their reviews and contribute to Strange darling received the highest score. Steven Prokopy of Third Coast Review recommended, “Do everything in your power to let this film surprise you, and your reward will be one of the most fascinating, flawless crime dramas I’ve seen in a long time.”

CBR also recently released an exclusive clip from the film. In the clip, Willa Fitzgerald’s character can be seen trying her best not to make any noise in the woods while trying to hide from the armed serial killer, played by Kyle Gallner. She treats a wound with alcohol, which makes the scene even more intense. The scene can be viewed below.
Strange darling will be released in theaters on August 23, 2024.
