Shannon Beador claims that her ex-boyfriend John Janssen previously suggested that she and her fellow “Real Housewives” cast members should “cover up” more.
The “Real Housewives of Orange County” star made the revelation on Friday’s episode of Scheana Shay’s “Scheananigans” podcast, admitting that she found it “surprising” that her ex moved on and dated someone like Alexis Bellino.
“Just before we split up, I was in New York for press and he said, ‘You really should cut your hair so it’s more age appropriate. Like, if you have really long hair with extensions, it looks fake,'” Beador, 60, told the “Vanderpump Rules” star.
“And then (John) said something like, ‘Why are these girls dressing so provocatively? They should really cover themselves up and be conservative.'”
Beador continued, saying she thinks “that’s kind of how Alexis and her hair are,” implying that Janssen’s alleged comments were hypocritical.
The founder of “Real for Real” also admitted that she now feels like she “doesn’t even know” Janssen anymore, even though she dated him on and off from 2019 to 2023.
“If they’re happy, great. I don’t want to be with him at all. I really don’t,” she repeated.
In response to Beador’s recent comments, Janssen, 61, released a statement to Page Six.
“Although Shannon has occasionally asked me for feedback and my opinion on her own hairstyles and clothing choices, I have never commented on how the other women dressed or wore their hair,” he said. “It’s sad to see Shannon resort to attacks on Alexis’ beauty and appearance.”
A spokesperson for Bellino, 47, did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
Beador, Janssen and Bellino have been at the center of the drama on the current season of “RHOC” since Bellino began dating Janssen in November 2023 – a year after Beador confirmed their split.
However, Beador later claimed that they briefly got back together before ending things for good after she was arrested for drunk driving and hit and run in September 2023.
Bellino and Janssen were initially interested in “becoming friends,” but that quickly changed when she confirmed their relationship with a kiss in December 2023.
Janssen later showed his love and devotion for Bellino by giving her a $16,000 engagement ring for Christmas.
In March, Bellino told Page Six that Janssen would “probably” propose to her soon, and Janssen gushed that he “couldn’t imagine his life without her.”
Bellino reiterated his view, telling E! News in July that they had been “looking at engagement rings.”
Meanwhile, Bellino and Beador had to deal with the dynamics of being in the same friend group, as Bellino had returned to filming “RHOC” as a “friend.”
In the most recent episode, Bellino claimed that she and Janssen had incriminating video footage of Beador from the night of her drunken driving arrest and threatened to release it if Beador did not stop bad-mouthing her husband.
