The museum announced Friday morning that it will be closed during regular hours in September, but will offer select special events during that time.
STEVENS POINT – The Central Wisconsin Children’s Museum will temporarily close in September as the museum focuses on restructuring.
According to an announcement Friday morning, Kristy Stacy, the museum’s executive director, has decided to leave the organization. As a result, the Central Wisconsin Children’s Museum board will focus on reorganizing and planning for the museum’s future.
The announcement highlighted challenges faced by many other organizations and businesses, including rising costs and challenges in attracting and retaining employees.
Although the museum will be closed for regular hours in September, special members-only activities will continue to be offered. The museum will also be open to the public for select special events in September. According to the announcement, the Central Wisconsin Children’s Museum will reopen in October with new hours.
While the museum is closed in September, the museum’s board, staff and volunteers will work to physically update the space and acquire new museum pieces, the group’s announcement said. They will also host a series of roundtables to find new ways to support local families through partnerships and new opportunities. They will also identify staffing needs, establish a staffing structure and build the museum’s reputation as a place of connection and community for all families.
The Central Wisconsin Children’s Museum will continue to serve as a center for STEAM education, offering weekly classes in science, art and music that will resume in November. Community partnerships will resume and events such as BINGO with Dimensions Living, Family Yoga with Ana Marie, Boohaha Halloween and New Years at Noon will also return, according to the announcement.
