The couple brought their role as “instigators” in an attempted “robbery” of a Dunkin’ restaurant in Boston.
Matt Damon and Casey Affleck would do almost anything for Dunkin’.
In a recent video promoting the duo’s latest film The instigatorsDamon and Affleck commit a “robbery” at a Dunkin’ in Boston.
The spot begins with 49-year-old Affleck, off-screen, telling an exasperated 53-year-old Damon to put a bag over his hand. The two walk into the coffee chain, where they are greeted by a Dunkin’ cashier. But Affleck promptly responds: “We have good news and bad news. The good news is that your shift is over. The bad news is that you’re going to be robbed.”
Then it cuts to Affleck holding up the paper bag and saying, “Have you ever been robbed? This is what it looks like.”
But the cashier is not fooled by the pair’s plan. He tells Affleck, “I can see your hand, Einstein.” He then rips the bag from Affleck’s hand and reveals his finger gun. Damon reluctantly adds, “I have a gun, too.” The cashier intervenes, revealing his finger gun while replying, “Two instigators here, huh? That’s pretty awesome.”

The annoyed Dunkin’ employee asks the two to order something and says: “It’s been a long day, what would you like? There’s a whole line behind you.”
Damon and Affleck give up, and Damon orders a Boston Kreme and a “large Regulah” coffee, and Affleck asks for a strawberry frosting (after confirming that Damon will pay for it). Since they brought their own paper bags, Damon tells the employee that they will use those because it’s “better for the environment.”

The couple recently spoke to PEOPLE about filming The instigators film in her hometown of Boston. “The sense of humor and the way people here just look at the world,” Damon said, noting that it’s “really fun if you’re from here because you know what it’s like.”
“For people who are not from here, it can seem off-putting. But if you are from here, it feels like a comfortable pair of socks,” he added.
“Boston has changed a lot,” Affleck stressed. “It’s really not the city we grew up in anymore… The whole country has changed. There have been so many cultural changes.”
He continued: “On the other hand, it’s the place where I still feel more at home than anywhere else. So that says something about what a place does to you as you grow. I will forever be connected to this place, no matter how much it changes.”
