WASHINGTON (WMBF/AP) – The Little River man who threw dangerous objects at police officers during the deadly insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, has been released from prison.
According to online records from the Federal Bureau of Prisons, 26-year-old Nicholas Languerand was released from federal prison earlier this month on August 6.
He ultimately served over two years in prison after pleading guilty in January 2022 to assaulting police officers with a dangerous weapon.
According to the verdict, Languerand is now on probation for two years.

Languerand called himself a patriot, but the judge who sentenced him said the rioters who stormed the Capitol on January 6, 2021, did not deserve that description.
“The patriots were the police officers who defended the Capitol and our democratic values,” said U.S. District Judge John Bates.
Languerand also told the judge that he is a QAnon follower, the conspiracy theory based on the unfounded belief that former President Donald Trump was waging a secret battle against a Satan-worshipping, child-sacrificing cabal of “deep state” enemies, prominent Democrats and Hollywood elites.
He was arrested in Little River on April 15, 2021, after a tip led them to an Instagram post that showed him on Capitol grounds at the time of the riots.
Documents released by federal investigators included images showing Languerand throwing objects at police officers, including an orange traffic barrier and two stick-like objects at officers guarding the Lower West Terrace entrance to the U.S. Capitol.
Authorities also said Languerand grabbed a police riot shield, slammed it on the ground and then held it in front of him as he confronted police.
“It was never intended to be violent,” Languerand said.
But the assistant U.S. attorney said Languerand later boasted about his actions on social media.
