Outkicks Tomi Lahren recommended Donald Trump’s Campaign to stop spreading a “doom and gloom” message to voters on Fox News on Friday in an effort to broaden his appeal.
During a discussion about OutnumberedThe panel responded to a recent interview between Kamala Harris And Tim Walz where the couple talked about tacos and their favorite music.
Lahren noted that the candidates seemed approachable because of the positive message in the interview. She then encouraged the Trump campaign to focus less on negativity and appeal to younger voters with a “slightly more positive” message.
The conservative commentator argued that a positive campaign message could also increase his appeal among independents and voters in swing states. Lahren said:
I think it works for a lot of independent voters and swing voters too. And I hate to say this, but it’s the truth because that’s who they are. To your point, Molly, about coming across as very positive. People may not be feeling so positive at their current stage of life, but when they see someone make light of a bad situation and help them feel better, that works for some people.
The people who don’t pay attention to the radical policies or how the economy is doing or the open borders. And unfortunately, there are a lot of voters out there who don’t pay as much attention to day-to-day events as we all do. So I think the Trump campaign really needs to strike a positive tone. They need to make Donald Trump a little more relatable, maybe a little more positive. We understand that the Biden-Harris administration destroyed America, but every speech he makes can’t be like that because then people will say, well, that’s just doom and gloom. We want some kind of optimism for the future.
Donald Trump can do that. He’s a very approachable person. We just need more of that side of him, maybe more with his grandchildren. And I know that sounds cheesy, but a lot of people care about approachability and likability, and they managed to make Tim Walz and Kamala Harris approachable and likable. Whether they are or not doesn’t matter. For a lot of people, perception is reality.
