How hot is that?
A strong ridge of high pressure was the dominant feature in most parts of Texas, including here in Houston, for most of August. In contrast to the cooler and certainly wetter July, many Texan fans thought: Maybe we can keep this streak of below-average summer temperatures going into the season opener. Well… the heat is back!
Texas Tailgate Forecast
We all can’t wait for the 2024 season to start and watch our Texans get back to the playoffs (and honestly, let’s see if they make it to the Super Bowl…but that’s another story).
Tomorrow’s game will be the first time Texans fans can get their smokers and grills out of the closet, but that comes at a price.
We’re expecting temperatures to reach over 35 degrees, feeling more like 38 degrees early in the day. That means the pre-game and definitely post-game parties will be like a sauna!
Recognize the signs of heat problems
When it’s as hot as we’re expecting this weekend, it’s always good to remember, “Drink, drink, drink!” That will be even more important this weekend while tailgating at the Texans game. If you’re actually feeling the effects of too much sun, it’s extremely important to know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. One can be treated on the spot, the other requires immediate medical attention. Below is a good checklist to look out for.
Conclusion: You have to be careful in this heat. We still have a few weeks of the dog days of August. And more importantly: GO TEXANS!!
