The energetic DnB track becomes the first UK chart-topper for influential electronic duo Chase & Status (Saul Milton and Will Kennard) and Stormzy’s fourth number one hit after Vossi Bop (2019), Take Me Back To London featuring Ed Sheeran (2019) and Own It featuring Ed Sheeran and Burna Boy (2020).
Reacting to the news, Chase & Status Official Charts said:
“We knew working with Stormzy would create something special, but we didn’t expect such a knockout reaction. To see him turn up at our show at Milton Keynes Bowl in his best man suit, straight from a wedding and in front of 45,000 people, was insane! One of the biggest British MCs to ever do that, spitting about DnB and having it go straight to number 1? It couldn’t have gone any better for us.”
BACKBONE ends the week as the most streamed track in the country in the last seven days (6.4 million streams).
