Trigger warning: This story and the included audio clip may be disturbing to some readers.
The mother of Ashley Jones desperately called 911 on the morning of July 7 and begged the police for help. Teenage mother Star after Ashley’s estranged ex-husband, Bar Smithis said to have held Ashley hostage in her apartment. In the terrifying audio recording of the emergency call – obtained by The Ashley— Ashley’s mother Tasheila”Tea“ Chapple He can be heard begging the police to get into Ashley’s apartment.
“This guy has guns! This guy is carrying guns!” Tea tells the 911 operator in a panic. “He’s already shot at her house! So much else is happening. Please come and help my daughter!”
The Ashley exclusively revealed the details of what allegedly happened the day Bar – the father of Ashley’s daughter Holly – was arrested and charged with kidnapping and several other serious crimes. As The Ashley reported, Tea – who is in Teen Mom Family Reunion and several other shows featuring Ashley – called 911 and claimed that Bar had threatened to show up at Ashley’s house, and when Ashley returned home that morning, she found that he had carried out his threat.
Tea claimed she was still on the phone with Ashley when she entered her apartment. Tea said she heard Bar’s voice before the call was cut off and Ashley did not respond to Tea’s calls.
In the audio recording of her 911 call that morning, Tea tells the operator that Bar has a “long criminal record” and is on probation.
“He’s not even supposed to be here! He’s got guns on him and I’m scared,” Tea says, adding that Bar and Ashley are currently going through a divorce.
For some reason, Tea tells 911 that Ashley told her to tell the police that they were famous.
“I’m supposed to tell you she’s a celebrity!” says Tea. “We make TV! We’re on TV, we work for MTV. Please. We’re celebrities, please!”
The 911 operator doesn’t seem particularly moved when he hears that he’s talking to a famous person, and instead tells Tea to stay away from Ashley’s apartment door.
Tea begs the police to hurry up because she and her family are tired of seeing bars displaying dangerous behavior.
“He fought all of us! Her father, me, her brother, her sister,” Tea said. “We’re done! We’re done. My daughter is done! We’re done!”
On Thursday, starry sky obtained for Bar the transcript of a recent hearing in which his public defender claimed that Ashley may have “skewed” the facts of this case a little.
Bar’s attorney argued that Bar could not make the $35,000 bail set for him. (The “Teen Mom” father is still behind bars as of press time.) The attorney also argued that Bar is neither a danger to society nor a flight risk and should be released on electronic monitoring.
“Mr. Lockettsmith is not a danger to the community. He has a very limited criminal record,” Bar’s attorney claimed. “…he has no prior felonies or gross misdemeanors. He has only committed two prior misdemeanors, one of which is a DUI from 2021. He is considered moderate risk with an NPR score of 5, just one point above that is considered low risk. Furthermore, this case does not involve any alleged physical altercation or injury of any kind.
“Mr. Lockettsmith is not a flight risk,” the attorney told the judge. “According to his NPR, he has never missed a court appearance. Although he lives in California, Mr. Lockettsmith would have no problem traveling back to Clark County for all court appearances.”
The attorney stated that Bar is employed at a bar in California and would like to work there again. However, he stated that Bar could remain in Nevada if the judge deemed it necessary. He stated that Bar could live with a close friend who lives in Clark County, Nevada. The attorney mentioned that Bar would be motivated to attend any required hearings because he did not want to lose the opportunity to see his daughter, Holly.
“Mr. Lockettsmith also has a daughter who lives in Clark County. This is his biggest incentive to always appear in court so that he can continue to be a part of her life,” the attorney claimed.
Alternatively, Bar’s attorney requested that the bail be reduced to a more attainable amount.
He then explained that Bar’s charges are based largely on Ashley’s account of what allegedly happened, which the attorney says may not be entirely true. He stated that there was “no 911 call.” (Of course, we know that’s not true, since Ashley’s mother made the 911 call in this story. Ashley also claimed that she couldn’t call herself because Bar took away all of her communication devices when she entered her apartment.)
“There’s no 911 call. There’s no such thing,” the attorney told the judge. “When they knock on the door, she says, ‘Oh, I’m not here,’ but then she decides to come out and tells the story based on the facts. So I just want to point out that it’s not quite as clear-cut as it seems and that based on all of that, he’s entitled to be released on the least restrictive means possible and a bond that he can afford. I would ask for a token amount, if anything, and that he be released on the basis of the PCU level that will allow him to return to California, where he came from.”
