Nintendo Switch launches a new wave of free downloads that you can enjoy for a month

Another month, another wave of free Nintendo gifts, but you’ll want to claim them on your Nintendo Switch as soon as possible – because once they’re gone, they’re gone for good.

As announced on Nintendo’s official Twitter account, several free new items will be coming to the Nintendo Switch eShop soon, and the first wave of them is already available now.

Be quick, though, as this first wave ends on August 20, meaning you only have four days left to claim it if you haven’t already.

The free items in question are all NSO symbols, which are thematically based on Nintendo’s successful third-person team shooter Splatoon 3.

There are five waves of free gifts, the first of which runs from August 13th to 20th.

The second is available from September 20th to 27th, the third from September 27th to 3rd.

The fourth wave will be available from September 3rd to 10th, and then the final fifth wave will be available from the 10th to the 17th – after which a new wave of NSO symbols will presumably be announced.

Like all other NSO icons that have been available in the past, these will be permanently unavailable after the date they leave Nintendo eShop.

If you’re particularly interested in some, be sure to use your My Nintendo Platinum Points to claim them right away, as you’ll most likely never have the chance to do so again.

A Reddit user has compiled exactly how many NSO icons were created for each Nintendo product, and (at the time of publishing this thread) Splatoon3 had over 360 symbols in his library.

However, this thread hasn’t been updated in a while, so who knows how many unique STrain 3 Icons were released at this point. People must be pretty keen to claim them if Nintendo keeps releasing them so frequently.
