(TriceEdneyWire.com) – As a black woman, I am interested in what some people say about black women. Look at Simone Biles at the Olympics! Wow! And then the orange man at the National Association of Black Journalists. He seemed out of place from the first question. Instead of being grateful that he was even invited to meet with black women journalists, he went on the attack. I can’t imagine any of the journalists had the slightest personal interest in him. They were there on business. They gave him a chance where not many immediately invited him to their programs or speaking engagements.
Unfortunately, the orange man has a habit of attacking anyone who tries to get a straight answer from him. The journalists took the precious time to give him a chance to explain himself. While many of us were not happy that he was given this precious time, we wanted to be “fair” and at least give him a chance to listen to the crowd and ask for the support of black people. Instead, he questioned the intelligence of black women – including the brilliant black woman who is now the candidate giving him a hard time. He had the nerve to accuse Vice President Kamala Harris of not acknowledging her blackness! He was reminded that Vice President Harris attended Howard University (Historically Black University), joined a black women’s sorority, lived her life as a black woman, and never denied being black!
I know so many who are eminently qualified by education, experience and common sense and would roll over the orange man who tries to compete with them. They don’t sit around and argue with childish behavior, misinformation and stupid arguments. His arguments make no sense. Now that he finds himself thinking he may have to debate his presidential opponent, it’s obvious he’s scared to death. It’s ironic that Kamala is the prosecutor and her opponent already has 34 criminal records! With all his bluster and insults about women, he finds himself in a situation where he is not in charge. His opponent is a brilliant black woman who has her facts, her talent, her accomplishments and her issues in hand. She knows how to research to get the right information and she knows what to do with it. He simply picks up on whatever he hears someone say, or he simply makes up something that sounds good to him but is repulsive to everyone else.
I can’t believe that a man who grew up in a happy childhood with all the advantages had to steal his family’s money – even the share of his nephew who was suffering from a serious illness – and tell his relative, “Let him die and move to Florida.” Shocking! Even poor people do what they can to help a helpless relative.
After attending a convention where you would think he was happy to have the opportunity to show his best side. I’m sure he didn’t give anyone a reason to vote for him! He only accepted the invitation to show us what he really thinks about us. He always thinks he’s the smartest person in the room when in reality he’s fooling himself. He was rude to the journalists who were kind enough to let him on stage with them.
I worked on Shirley Chisholm’s team when she ran for president and I know what a difficult time she went through. She didn’t give up and even though she didn’t win that race by the number of votes, she won the hearts of so many. She is a role model for all women.
We tend to use our education, talent and opportunities to help and advance others. It’s in our nature!
