Three-time reigning Open Division champion Kahuku begins the season ranked No. 1 in the High School Football America Hawaii Top 10 High School Football rankings, powered by Play NFL footballThe Red Raiders are also ranked high in our national rankings, at 30th place.
Kahuku will once again face top teams from off-island. Their schedule outside of Hawaii includes the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in our preseason national rankings. The Red Raiders host No. 2 Bishop Gorman (Nevada) on Aug. 16. On Sept. 14, they travel to Southern California to face preseason No. 1 Mater Dei, who have won four of our national championships since 2017.
The defending champs’ in-state schedule includes seven opponents in our preseason top 10, beginning Saturday night against No. 5 Saint Louis.
In addition to Kahuku, our national rankings, created using our proprietary algorithm, include Mililani (No. 2) and Punahou (No. 3) at No. 255.
Kahuku/Saint Louis isn’t the only battle within the top 10 to kick off the regular season. No. 10 Konawaena travels to Punahou.
