Burger King is offering free King Jr. meals in honor of back-to-school season

The end of summer may be a disappointment, but Burger King has offers to soften the blow.

The fast-food chain is celebrating students’ return to school by offering a free King Jr. meal from August 12-25.

There are many menu items to fulfill the main, side, beverage and treat components of the package. Kids can choose between a double cheeseburger, 4-piece chicken nuggets, 6-piece chicken nuggets, cheeseburger and hamburger as a main dish. For a side, customers can choose between French fries, onion rings, have-sies (a side dish that is half French fries and half onion rings) or applesauce. Additionally, the kids’ menu includes a beverage, such as apple juice or lemonade, and a treat in the form of a toy or chocolate chip cookie.

You don’t have to be a student to take advantage of this offer. All rewards members are eligible for the free King Jr. Meal when they make a $10 purchase.

On August 8, BK announced that their $5 Your Way Meal will be available through October.

The $5 offer, which first launched on June 10, consists of a customer’s choice of a Whopper Jr., Chicken Jr. or Bacon Cheeseburger. Along with the sandwich, they receive 4 chicken nuggets, French fries and a soft drink.

“We will now extend the $5 Your Way Meal offer into October because we feel it works perfectly for the business and we believe customers love it,” said Josh Kobza, CEO of Restaurant Brands International, during a quarterly earnings call.

Dairy Queen is also ready for back-to-school—they’re releasing their Blizzard lineup for fall. The ice cream chain has seven new and returning Blizzards to usher in sweater season, including popular pumpkin varieties and a new coffee-inspired treat.

The Caramel Java Chip Blizzard is a new frozen treat. It combines coffee, chocolate espresso crunchy pieces and caramel with soft ice cream.

The Pumpkin Pie Blizzard is back on the menu. The popular dessert consists of real pumpkin pie pieces and soft serve ice cream and is garnished with nutmeg and whipped cream.

The French Silk Pie Blizzard, Oreo Fudge Brownie Blizzard, Salted Caramel Truffle Blizzard, Reese’s Pieces Cookie Dough Blizzard and Royal NY Cheesecake Blizzard are also part of Dairy Queen’s sweet fall selection.
