Sha’Carri Richardson just won her first gold medal.
Richardson, one of the biggest stars of the US team at this year’s Olympic Games 2024 in Paris Only won the gold medal along with the rest of the women’s 4x100m sprint team in breathtaking fashion today.
Richardson, along with Gabby Thomas, Melissa Jefferson and Twanisha Terry, won gold with a season’s best time of 41.78.
For Richardson, the win was a sort of redemption after she was disqualified from her first Olympic Games in 2021 and only finished second in her first event at these Games in Paris.
Richardson was the final runner for Team USA and took off as soon as she received the baton. Towards the end of the race, she turned to watch her competitors run but continued to accelerate.
Great Britain took silver and Germany took bronze.
Richardson won a silver medal in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.87 seconds in her high-profile Olympic debut last week, and now she can add a gold medal to her tally.
Richardson first became a sports star in 2021 when she won the Olympic final of athletics in Oregon and thanked her friend for her support and choosing her hair color for the race.
Unfortunately, she was disqualified from the Olympic Games in Tokyo after failing a drug test for THC. At the time, she was grieving the death of her mother, who had died the week before the race.
Congratulations to Richardson on finally winning Olympic gold!
