NORTH PLATTE, Nebraska (KNOP) – First United Methodist Church in North Platte hosted its annual Project Connect event.
The annual back-to-school event hosted about 50 different vendors from across the state who shared information about their organization and the work they do to help people in the community. Free haircuts and dental work were available to students who attended the event.
Free bingo cards were also handed out, and when completed, participants gained access to a rewards table that offered free cleaning and hygiene kits, backpacks, and tickets to the North Platte Children’s Museum (thanks to NebraskaLand Bank).
Deicia Mata is the central navigator for the First Families Partnership. She said the committee organizing the event is working to come up with new ideas to make the event better for everyone.
“So this is our second time here and the committee that put this together worked with past experiences and brought ideas on how we can improve. And it was nice to have the barbers join in and do haircuts, especially since we’re just going back to school,” Mata said.
