Your next big business Zoom call could be a real blast after the company announced a major expansion of calling capacity.
The video conferencing platform can now support up to one million participants in a single webinar, as Zoom calls remain a popular medium for businesses to reach larger audiences.
The company says the expansion will help “change the way we communicate at scale,” allowing hosts and viewers around the world to interact seamlessly — assuming their internet connection is good enough, of course.
More zoom for your money
The news is part of a selection of new webinar options from Zoom in addition to its monthly and annual webinar subscription options.
In the future, customers will be able to choose webinars for 10,000, 50,000, 100,000, 250,000 or the top participant capacity of one million. Zoom says its webinars will offer sessions up to 30 hours long and can include up to a thousand interactive video panelists, giving attendees an immersive conference experience.
Customers receive support from Zoom’s Event Services team to ensure the event runs smoothly and have access to numerous analytics and performance reports on their audience to improve future events.
The company says the new webinar experience can not only help large companies that can now host conference calls with their entire workforce, but it can also help public sector organizations that want to communicate with large, diverse populations, or even entertainment companies or celebrities who want to reach as many fans as possible.
“Zoom’s expanded capacity webinar offering is revolutionizing the way organizations can seamlessly connect and engage with massive audiences,” said Smita Hashim, Chief Product Officer at Zoom.
“Now, event organizers have the flexibility and ability to deliver truly interactive experiences on a scale never seen before and purchase large, one-time-use webinars.”
The announcement follows news that US presidential candidate Kamala Harris recently broke the record for the highest number of participants on a Zoom call, with 200,000 participants reportedly in attendance.
