Tim Walz and JD Vance confirm vice presidential debate in October
Vice presidential candidates JD Vance and Tim Walz will participate in a debate scheduled for October 1, hosted by CBS News.
The first presidential debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris has been officially announced.
After weeks of speculation about which network would broadcast the debate and what date it would take place, ABC News announced Friday that the first debate will take place on Tuesday, September 10, at the National Constitutional Center in Philadelphia.
The Harris-Walz campaign team said in a statement on Thursday that Trump’s campaign team had accepted its proposal for a total of three debates – two presidential debates and one vice presidential debate.
“Assuming Donald Trump does indeed show up to debate Vice President Harris on September 10, Governor Walz will speak with JD Vance on October 1 and the American people will have another opportunity to see the Vice President and Donald Trump on the debate stage in October,” the campaign wrote.
The former president’s campaign team has also proposed September 4 and 25 as dates for the debates. Details are still to be worked out with the Harris campaign team.
Trump’s running mate, Ohio Senator JD Vance, and Harris’ running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, have both agreed to a vice presidential debate on October 1, moderated by CBS News. Although Vance has also agreed to a CNN debate against Walz on September 18, Walz has not yet confirmed his participation in that debate.
