Thanks to a free software upgrade, Trinnov Audio’s WaveForming room optimization technology is now publicly available on the Altitude range of audio processors.
This technology enables audio professionals and enthusiasts to achieve unprecedented bass performance and consistency throughout the listening room. WaveForming will be a standard feature on all future Altitude products and can be enabled on existing Altitude processors via a free software upgrade.
WaveForming is the product of more than seven years of research, and Trinnov has validated and refined its parameters based on feedback from an 18-month Early Access program.
The technology has evolved to include a wide variety of subwoofer layouts, including conventional layouts with just four subwoofers. This design flexibility makes WaveForming suitable for a wide range of spaces and budgets.
To support the public release of the software, Trinnov has created free design tools to support WaveForming implementation.
These and other support resources can be found on the WaveForming resources page.
WaveForming uses proven immersive audio system design practices and a proprietary algorithm to produce precise low-frequency sound throughout the listening area, even in rooms with difficult acoustics. Using a unique active acoustic approach that eliminates room modes rather than trying to minimize their impact, WaveForming achieves smooth, powerful, clear, and detailed bass.
By leveraging the WaveForming algorithm and optimal subwoofer placement for each room, integrators can consistently meet and exceed the highest standards for bass audio consistency. WaveForming controls include coverage uniformity performance benchmarks from CEDIA’s RP22 Immersive Audio System Design Recommended Practice, allowing users to model and verify system performance.
Optimal subwoofer placement guidelines allow for significant flexibility, while the Altitude user interface combines intuitive controls with detailed fine-tuning capabilities to further tailor the experience to the end user’s physical environment and personal preferences.
To begin implementing WaveForming, Trinnov dealers should download the latest Altitude software update. Current Altitude owners with compatible audio systems should contact their dealer to enable WaveForming on their existing system and schedule calibration services.
WaveForming can be experienced in person at CEDIA Expo, with a live demonstration at the Trinnov booth #2938. Arnaud Laborie, CEO of Trinnov, will also offer an in-depth exploration of the acoustic principles behind WaveForming in the seminar “Room Mode Elimination and Low Frequency Extension with Active Acoustics” taking place on the 4th.th September as part of the CEDIA Expo conference (registration required).
