Things are starting to get interesting at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, as only four teams – two from the United States and two from the international championship – remain undefeated.
Of the 20 teams that started, the field was reduced to just 12 teams – six each in the USA and at the international level.
One of the teams still in the running is Staten Island’s South Shore Little League, which has won two straight games after losing its first game. But manager Bob Laterza’s boys, who are 19-3 this summer, have their backs against the wall heading into Tuesday’s elimination game against Florida.
South Shore needs three more wins to advance to the U.S. title game on Saturday and then possibly play for the overall World Series crown.
