Heading to Boston over Labor Day weekend? You’re not alone.
According to AAA booking data, the capital of Massachusetts is one of the most popular Labor Day travel destinations in the United States.
Other top Labor Day destinations include Orlando, New York, Las Vegas, Denver, Chicago and San Francisco.
Seattle is the most popular destination over Labor Day weekend, with trips to the city up nearly 30% from last year, when it also topped the list, according to AAA.
While overall domestic travel over Labor Day weekend increased 9% from a year ago, domestic travel costs decreased 2%, AAA reported.
Gasoline prices are also expected to be lower this Labor Day weekend compared to 2023. Last year, the national average over the holiday weekend was $3.81, and this year it could be around $3.50, according to AAA.
Meanwhile, international travel over Labor Weekend fell 4% year-over-year, according to AAA booking figures.
The cost of international travel has increased by 11% and AAA has found that most travelers are heading to Europe. In fact, eight of the top 10 international destinations booked through AAA are European cities.
