The Emery High School cross country team traveled to Salt Lake City over the weekend to compete at the Regional Athletic Complex (RAC) in Rose Park. Twenty-two teams participated, including freshmen and sophomores in one division and third and fourth-year students in the other.
Starting with the girls’ junior/senior competition, Addy Guymon delivered an outstanding race to take first place overall. The competition featured 109 competitors; Guymon finished the course with a time of 19:10.8, 38 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.
She was followed by Addie Hurst, who also put in a fantastic performance, finishing fifth with a time of 20:12.8. Hannah Farley made it into the top 50, finishing 49th with a time of 24:02.8, followed by Kalle Lake with a time of 27:46.9.
In the junior/senior group, Dillan Larsen led the Spartans, finishing 17th out of 213 participants with a time of 16:54.0. Hayden Christiansen finished 80th with a time of 18:59.0, followed by Jacob Erickson (19:29.0), Zander Robinson (19:45.2) and Landon Braun (21:14.7).
In the freshman and sophomore girls’ competition, Gentry Christiansen (19:42.7) ran great to take third place out of 111 competitors. Skylee Guymon followed in 13th place with a time of 21:25.0, and Alivia Daley finished in 18th place with a time of 22:26.7.
On the boys’ side, Benjamin Farley (18:41.4) finished 35th out of 181 participants, followed by Porter Stilson (22:38.4) and Devon Farley (23:59.1). The team next travels to Spanish Fork for another competition at the Sports Park on Saturday, August 24.
