The country’s largest brokerage firm by sales volume is working to further solidify its presence in Middle Tennessee. On Wednesday compass announced that real estate industry veteran Grant Hammond, owner and president of Metropolitan real estate agentjoins the company.
At Compass, Hammond will join Brandon Knox and Darin Cunningham BDG Partnera full-service team that will be based in the greater Nashville area.
“As I begin the next phase of my career, it is more important than ever to surround myself with people who want to drive positive change for real estate professionals and clients,” Hammond said in a statement. “I decided to join Brandon and Darin at Compass because I believe we can be better together and build the most impressive real estate team in the Southeast.”
In addition to his role as head of Metropolitan Brokers, Hammond served on various committees at Real Estate Agents in Greater NashvilleBoth Knox and Cunningham have already been placed with Compass and are The Knox Team and the Cunningham TeamThe Knox team is the 18th small team in Tennessee by sales, according to 2024 RealTrends verified Rankings. The team generated revenue of $45.8 million in 2023.
The three partners have completed a combined 6,500 transactions with total sales of $2.75 billion over the course of their careers.
“Each of us has been the individual motivator for our respective teams and pushed them forward,” Knox said in a statement. “Now we can motivate each other and pursue a big goal that is bigger than any of us could achieve alone, while also addressing the individual needs of our customers.”
The team said they will focus their work on the pillars of “Build, Develop, Lead” to increase customer success and satisfaction.

The newly formed team currently has over $350 million in active and pending listings. According to their announcement, the three experienced agents plan to grow the team throughout the Southeastern United States. The team will operate out of Compass’ offices in Green Hills and Midtown.
This is not Compass’ first major move in Tennessee. Earlier this year, the company announced a merger with Parks Real Estateand helped the company expand its presence in the state after entering in 2018.
